    Adding a slaved X axis

    Hi all,
I've built a gantry router which is up and running and i want to improve it by adding another ballscrew and motor etc. slaved to the existing x axis.
The problem i've got is that the existing x axis (from ebay ) seems to be an odd size ( 18x8 ) and i cant find the equivalent new.
Can my new axis be a different diameter and pitch and still be slaved to the existing one ?
I almost dont want a reply as i suspect it will be bad news !
    Cheers,
    Nick

No, the two axis need to be identical, with identical settings.

    Thanks Gerry,
I'll have to buy two new ones then.

i know you may not like this but you could swap out the thread for a chain or pully.
with two chains or pully, one on either side.

i've heard they are an improvement.
