    Hi Eling,

Sorry my progress is so slow. I tend to get sidetracked, so my projects take long paths to completion.

In the first post their is a link to the woodworking forum thread where Simco posted his original design. In that thread there is detailed advice about making it, mods for more capacity, and photos of two built brakes.

I suggest you sign up to that forum (it uses the same PHP forum engine as this one, so it works just like CNCzone).
    Regards,
    Mark

Slight project delay later, today I finished machining the side plates, and one of the leaf pivots. Still plenty to go. At this rate I should be finished in summer 2020.

Made a little more progress. The apron is finished except for the lifting handle. I have been teaching myself to weld with the help of you tube, and practice. Welded the stifferner to the main bed and then welded the feet onto the side plates. Got a bit of undercut on the angle welds. The next thing I need is at least two fingers and clamps, to be able to position and weld the upper angle beam. Then there is the clamping handle still to do.

Got a bit more done lately. First machined two fingers, as you need them to set up the upper bar. Then welded that bar in place. I am at that stage of self taught welding where I pat myself on the back for a lovely weld, and the next one I' am cringing and wondering how I can take photos so no one sees it. The welds on the back of the lifting bar which no one will ever see are wonderful. Trust me. The most obvious weld at the top front look like ****.

I then got about half way through milling the rest of the fingers. Once that is done, I just need to make the clamping lever, and its drive dogs to the bar under the bed and it is finished. Could well be this year.

is there a copy of the plans for this machine? I tried to click the link but got a dead-end. CAD or PDF would be awesome.

That woodworking forum was still active last month. Maybe they are just doing server maintenance.

Re: 600mm Box bend brake (Finger Brake, pan Brake)

I finally finished the bend brake. Well, nearly, I could only make 12 finger clamps in one sitting, as my mill only has 300mm of travel. Turns out I need 13.

Tonight I'll go get some sheet metal, as we need a new letterbox.

Congrats on completing it! I would be interested to know what thickness you can reliably bend at full width once you get to test it. I've got a finger press break, but it's a bit narrow and would like to build something wider.

Have you seen DXF files available for these pieces?

    Hi Mark,
It was this Finger Bender that caught my eye on the internet, and brought me to this site.
    Well done on your build.
Can you help with or do you share plans, so I can attempt this myself.

Once again well done I to get distracted and go off in a tangent on different builds.

    Kindest Regards
    Beagles

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the kind words. The plans are in pdf in Bents posting #28 above. I haven't seen DXF's of the parts, but they are all very simple could be quickly redrawn, if needed to get them lasered. That would cut about 6 1/2 years off the build time.

    Mark
