Hi guys, I have a VF4 that was throwing a 179 alarm which is a low pressure transmission oil alarm.
After some investigation we discovered that this rubber coupler had split.


I looked at Granger but could not find it does anyone have a suggestion where to get just the coupler?
Haas will only sell the whole unit pump and motor so that is out.

Check back with haas or you local reps,I had the same thing happen a few months back,and all I had to get was the coupler and driver.If there telling you anything else, tell them to go pound sand!

Telling your rep to go pound sand won't get you far.
But there are other sources for Haas parts. Look around for an indi guy and I'll bet he can get what you need.

What year machine is that. Brand name of the pump? any other numbers?

It is called a flex coupler PN 49-4135 and is $18.00

I'm currently dealing with the 179 code and i was wondering where this coupler is on the machine so i can check between that and the pressure switch for the transmission.

The pump on a VF4 is in the head, in the right rear corner, you will have to remove the sheet metal to see it.
You will have to remove the sheet metal to replace either the coupler or the pressure switch.

Prior to coming on with my current company a VF2 had the wrong oil dumped in to the transmission. This clogged the filter and strained the pump causing 3 coupling failures. The HFO was replacing entire pumps. Total bill was just over $ 1,000 each time for 3 years.

Be sure to take apart and clean the strainer, the couple of machines I looked at are plumbed backwards making it look like it is clean but it is really clogged. ( Oil is supposed to flow from outside to in . )

Excellent. Thank you all! The price of the coupler has gone up to a whopping $1.78. I ordered two of them from McMaster-Carr online and had them less than 24 hours later via UPS ground.
