Hello to everyone. I'm a new poster and need some G code help. I am a wood gear clock builder who is tired of hand cutting gears. I'm exploring the possibility of adding CNC to my old Rockwell mill. the problem that I have is that the Y axis travel is too small for the gear sizes I want to cut. One solution is to use a rotary axis (C) along with my X axis to cut the gear tooth profile. I'll be using either Turbocnc or Mach2mill to drive my controller. I will be cutting epicyclic gear profiles. With wood gear clocks that profile is often approximated as a circular arc segment. I have written g code using g2 and g3 for cutting using the X and Y axes and the code looks good in a simulation. I need to do the same thing now using the C and X axis and am not sure how to set this up.......Help me please.
