Ed,
Is your lathe equipped
with a 90 volt dc motor?
I am going out on a limb here.
Most likely your lathe has 110 -120 volt ac motor and if so the Gecko is not going to work.
Please post the motor size in horsepower, voltage and amperage.
Then it will be easy to suggest a control solution.
Jeff...
It would likely work if you are running a servo motor that is within the gecko's range. The question is will it be fast and strong enough?
I think it's doable for a small lathe.

Ed,
Lee is 100 percent correct.
I apologize for not completely reading your question.
If you are using a servo motor to drive your spindle, the gecko will work if within its operating parameter.
Lee's question about horsepower with be the deciding factor.
Jeff...
What I'm doing is adding it to my cnc mill. It will be used like a lathe. My cutter will be mounted to the side of my router. I hoping I can use the spindle setup in Mach3 to do this. I using a small 3" chuck. I have not purchased a motor yet. But I already have and extra 320. What size motor would be good for this and what gearing should I use.
Thanks Ed
