    Tormach coolant, spindle bearing, ring.

Anyone interested in a coolant ring that mounts over the spindle so that it cools the bearings while supplying coolant for cutting? I am thinking of building some they would sell for $75 with shipping included. I am trying to find out if there is any interest? I will build some in a month if people are interested?

    Hello!

Would this mount where the secondary spindle mounts now?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Rwexec what is that made of? Square was a thought for me but figured nobody would want them. You know what I mean people like something shiny. These would be made out of aluminum about 1 1/4" thick it would be hollow with threaded holes for you coolant lines.

    coolant ring

    I made mine from UHMW.
    Square was simple.
I think I will change to copper tubing instead of the ridged tubing shown for flexability.
    Cheers.

If you make a millon dollars you owe me a beer

    Does the job quite nicely.

Did anything ever come of these? They seem like a great idea in conjunction with the spindle drive upgrade and 5100 max RPM.

Of course I could make my own but I have more than a few other projects vying for my time.

    coolant ring

This is so simple making them for sale would be pointless in my opinion.
All you need to do is drill out four intersecting holes in a piece of one inch thick plastic and tap them for pipe plugs at three points and a fitting for your coolant supply at the other.
Then drill perpendicular cross holes for coolant pipes.
I used compression fittings in 1/8" NPT and 3/16 copper tubing.
The big hole is 3.375" diameter to suit the spindle housing.
This is what has to be done before you start your other projects.
    Cheers

Yes agreed, very simple. On the other hand it would still take me a full day to make correctly. People buy soft jaws from Tormach for $40 a pop. I don't because I spent last Saturday setting up and making 5 sets at once. But in this case I only need one part so the transaction cost is much higher.

It would be worth my time to buy a ring from highspeedmazak for $75 if he made them. And it would be worth his time to make ten instead of one if he has the spare time.

    coolant ring

If you want to pay $75 plus shipping I will make you one.
    As shown in the picture.
    Let me know.
I will need to know your coolant hose size for attachment and the diameter of the spindle if it is different than the one mentioned.

    Cheers

It's ok, I wanted one in shiny metal. I spent an hour modeling today and I've got a decent design worked up. So I guess I'll be making my own after all.
