Converting Illustrator files to Gcode files

not sure if this is the right place for this if not moderators please move it.
I am wondering if there is any way to convert Adobe Illustrator files to Gcode files for running on Hass CNC mills. If anyone has any experience doing this please let me know. Right now my files are saved just as illustrator files, if I need to save them as some thing different etc. please let me know.

    Thanks in advance:

    Hi all,

I am not familiar with Adobe Illustrator but if it can generate/export the file as an HPGL plotter file format (.plt extension), VEGA DATA-View will convert to plotter file to a 3D M and G code file. DATA-View turns the pen-up and pen-down calls into Z motion.

This works for any application that can generate a 2D plotter file (Corel, Autocad, etc) and is an easy way to engrave/etch/cut graphics and text into your work.

During loading you will be prompted for the depth of cut, retract distance, approach distance, and if you want to use G0 for rapids or a defined rapid feedrate.

We are still working on development for 3D relief based on color/gray scale conversion. There is a fully functional demo posted on our web site: www.vegacnc.com on the downloads page. The demo will allow you to view/edit/animate/optimize 45 files before expiring.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Enjoy!

I save my illustrator files in the format .svg then you can open the file in the free software inkscape. You can use the gcode tools extension in inkscape to produce gcode.
