Which software to trim .stl files?

    Hello everyone

I don't know where would be the perfect place for this post, but I really need help.. so I am posting this on both the CAM and CAD forums. Please forgive.

The question is: which software could I use to be able to trim .stl files with a cutting plane/surface, or to do booleans on .stl meshes?

I have two files to work on, both are .stl and both are too big to be cut on my machinery at once, so I need to cut them in parts.
I tried Meshcad for Rhino but it doesn't seem to work always...

    many thanks for any suggestion!

    Delcam Millwizard

    Andrea,

Take a look at Delcam Millwizard software.

    There is a trial download.

I use Freeform which makes it easy to slice up .stl's, boolean and manipulate. Send me the file and I can do it for you.

    Jeff, Harry

many thanks to both of you

I was able to use Rhinocam (Visualmill) to do what I was needing this time - not being able to "cut" the .stl in parts, but being able to work between specified depths then changing my machine Z coordinates for each "layer".
I will try now to download and install Millwizard, and I will look for Freeform too... could you please send me a link where to get some info about this program, Harry?

    thanks again
