    Used JET BD-920N Lathe

Yesterday, I went with a friend to a bank auction to help him load his purchases. Among the house and garage items up for bid was JET BD-920N lathe. I could not see it run, but according to the manual, everything was there( including the base cabinet). No rust or obvious damage. I found the purchase receipt in the manual(2006). Also included were a HF 39083 QCTP9 (still in the box), an 8 piece brazed carbide tool set, numerous carbide inserts and holders and some HSS tool blanks. I got it for $400.
This mornings inspection revealed a trashed 80T plastic gear, but there is a spare in the gear change set.

Should I order more 80T plastic gears or get a metal 80T from Grizzly?

I plan on going through a complete start up prep and alignment, so I will have more Newbie questions.
    Any advise will be welcomed.

    Thanks,
    Mike

That is a pretty sweet deal you got.
Don't worry about the gear you may never need it.
I would not replace it with steel two reasons, it is the weak link on purpose in case there is a overload this will protect all the other gears, allso it reduces the noise when the gears are running.
    Good Luck with your Lathe.
