Following error is generally the axis cannot keep up with the commanded move, is the axis moving? Does it Jump suddenly or not move at all?
Do you have 'Following Error Display' screen on this model ?

The axis, In this case "X", will stop in the middle of a program. I will get the error message and will have to reboot the machine to get the axis to move. Last night i adjusted the transformer on that axis and was able to finish a program with out a problem. I am still unsure if i resolved the problem. What should the following error be set at? I am set at .0293 right now.

Is this the set value or the reading of the Detected amount of FE?
The degree of setting amount will depend a lot on the type of machine and the tuning.
Test for tightness if it occurs at one spot etc.
You could increase the allowed following error value or try tuning the axis with a slightly more gain.

    Maintenance???

MotionMaster and Western CNC use Fagor 8055, if your machine is one of these it may be wise to remove the ball screw cover and check the ball screw. Have seen this error on these machines when they are in dire need of cleaning, grease.....etc. X axis on these machines require weekly maintenance. Check belts, ball nut etc.

The following error is not "set" ideally the following error would be 0, however that's not possible. Any time a machine starts to fault out on this kind of parameter, you need to check the basics (loose wires, etc.), before jumping in to the parameter table.Software doesn't just change. Mechanical stuff does.
    Have a read...

PS write down the old values before making changes, and change 1 parameter at a time.

    cheers

I did not mean that the following error is set, I was referring to the following error Value that is allowed to occur before excess following error is detected and acted on.

Tightened all the wire conections and clean and lubed all guide bearings and cleaned both lead screws. No problems since.
