    Viking Diamond Turning Machine

    Hello ,

Vikings made their aspheric lenses to burn wounds by sunlight.
Their quality analysed by Rodentock - Germany and they said that these lenses are at equivalent quality with late 1950s products.
I want to make my photograph machine lenses.
How can I make my lenses with same quality and poor technology ?

You would almost certainly have to Diamond Turn these. I regularly make these types of lenses in optical grade acrylic, polycarbonate and high index polymers such as MR7.

    Here's some I made earlier.

What machine are you using please?

    Thanks.

    [Edit]
The lenses they made were conics which had surprisingly little spherical abberation, which is pretty advanced considering what they had to make them with. It would have taken a long, long time to make this conventionaly (months,).

Mind you, there does exist a crystal lens from about 1000BC (I'll remember where from in a bit). The viking lenses were dated around 11th cenury AD at most. Lenses have been about for a long time

I love deadlines- I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
