    Exclamation Starting off...

I am new to building a CNC machine but im going to do it.
I have run one before at a woodshop making pool cues, but dont know much about building one from scratch.

i have several unipolar and bipolar motors sitting around from old printers and dvd drives. i would like to make a very simple x/y cnc machine out of these... can someone recommend a simple way to do this? im fine with using any cnc program, i will make my own vector images to cut. and i can solder very well.

now im also very good with lasers and i would like to do use a cutting laser for my first one... i dont know if i need anything extra to control the laser being controlled by the cnc program to turn on and off in-between cuts?

    please help a noobie
i need to know where i should start building the controllers.
    I appreciate any help!

which model would you suggest for my needs?
i need to control a laser and 2 axis... i dont know what cnc program would be best to use either.

i dont remember what the rating of the stepper motors i have from the printers are... but i dont think they go much over 1 amp... if that.

    thanks!
