I noticed on the Haas machine at school there's a small 4th axis indexer with a chuck.

How do people make the best use of this device? A lot of times I want to machine multiple sides. Setting it so that all the sides align seems quite time consuming.

I watched this video on youtube: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU5nogTtNdc"]YouTube - HAAS 4TH AXIS MACHINING[/ame]

and it seems that they are using it like a rotating clamp. This would eliminate lots of part set ups for multiple sided parts.

Is this some sort of attachment that people sell that fits into the 4th indexing chuck that turns it into a clamp?

The other options I thought I could use were:
-machining a round cylinder that stuck out of out of a solid billet then putting the round part in the chuck
-drill 4 holes in the billet on the flat square side

Now anytime I want to cut a 4 axis part, I can drill 4 mounting holes and attach it to the 4th axis.

Not as nice as the rotating clamp idea however!
