    VIACAD: Text Lines Help

In ViaCAD, when I convert text to lines or curves to add lines to connect the islands then start trimming it completly screws up the letter. What am I doing wrong?

I assume your goal is to use your two new vertical lines to create a gap of sorts in the letter B. To do this, you need to use the "Segment" tools found in the trim flyout. I believe "Segment to Curve" is the default tool in the flyout and if you select that, you get an additional toolbar that pops up on the screen. In THAT toolbar, probably the simplest thing you can do is use the "Segment at Location" tool and just click on the horizontal lines of the islands of the B BETWEEN your two vertical lines. This will BREAK the islands into a left and right section. Then you can use the traditional corner trim to finish up.

Essentially, the "Segment at Location" "cuts" a line or entity.

    Hope that helps !
