2D Contour on a round OD not very round :(

Im getting huge flats on the OD of the Contour

with .001 tolerance filtering is tunrned off ...

I cut a Pocket in the same part with the same tolerance and its super smooth..

What did I miss ? is the model bad?

Did you import the model or create it in MCX.

I imported it from RHINO ...

and the mesh settings were set very low ...

But only one part of the part machined crappy .. the other holes and round bosses cut great .. just the oD of the part was tiny lil flats like 100 of them

looks cool just not smooth ...

so when you check screen Statistics what do you have surfaces or solids lines and arcs or splines. when info to help figure out what happened.
If you share the MC file this would help you.

I've had this happen a few times in the past, when machining an ellipse. On all of the elliptical or spline ID features, the part was great, but on the OD, it would look just as you described.

I can't remember 100%, but I'm pretty sure the easy work-around was to just chain the OD in the reverse direction (so the tool wants to be on the inside of the chain), then offset the XY direction the same amount as the cutter diameter so the tool ends up back on the correct side of the part. It sounds wacky, but I'll be damned if it didn't solve the problem every time. Very bizarre.
