Zero meaning Z home position ? Z home being at it's maximum upward travel like my machine?
Anyone who says "It only goes together one way" has no imagination.

I hope you're not saying that when you press the (E)Stop button, that the quill moves up. That is a big safety issue.

Are you trying to make the Z retract when the program encounters an M2, or when you press the estop button (or some other stop button, like optional stop or pause)?

You just have to add a pyVCP button to do that...

You can add just about anything you like and make it look like you want in EMC2.

I personally do use the Stop button in mach 3 to go to safe Z when it is hit. Estop stops all motion and spindle. Stops halts the spindle and X and Y movement, but bumps the Z up to safe Z, which for my mill is only .1".
This setting is a hold over from when I was using a lesser spindle motor that was prone to stalling. I like how it works, so I continue to use it that way.
There are settings in Mach 3 for this.
I don't know about the software originally asked about.
