    TM-1 maintance

I have a 2001 TM-1 which has ran with only minor problems for 7 years, I'm now starting to experience chatter on some jobs, holes not profiled round and now hexs that are .002-.003 out from side to side. Do I need to call Haas out to tighten everything up or does it sound like I need to replace some parts. ( ball screws, etc.) Any suggestions would be greatly apprecicated.

Have you been following the greasing instructions for the ballscrews and linear guides?

What you describe sounds like a backlash issue.

Yes, I actually greese it a lot more than what Haas recommends. Adjusting the backlash is that something I need to call Haas to do or can I do it.

This is not always a good idea.

The greasing instructions from Haas for my TM3P say; "...Do not over grease, as the excessive pressure of over-greasing.....is harmful to the seals. It is not necessary to see grease squeezing out of the seals."

If the ballscrews have developed backlash there is no adjusting, new ones are needed.

One thing you could do is make sure nothing has come loose such as bolts or nuts.
