Removing 4th Axis from Table, Fanuc 0i

    Hello,
I'm trying to take the 4th axis unit off my mill for a job so I can put vises across the whole table, but when I unplug the cables to it I receive an error on the Controller, a Fanuc 0i-MC. Is there a set of paramaters I need to change in order to do this?

    Thanks

    Jay

    Jay,

    Set PRM 8130 and 1010 to 3.

I will suggest a better way, the standart procedure for additional axis subject to removing:
    - set prm 1005 bit 7 =1 for the axis you want to enable removing
    - set prm 12 bit 1 to remove axis
    - clear prm 1815 bit 5 for the axis you want to remove (to avoid APC alarms)
    - CNC off, remove cables from the table, remove table, CNC on
Now the add. axis is on screen, but no any alarms.
When the axis is necessary again, just set 12#7 (and 1815#5, if absolute pulsecoder is used), CNC off, connect cables, CNC on and you have additional axis again.

    F-BU,

The control stay waiting for the 4th axis. If you don´t said that has only 3 axis, the alarm will be appear.

Hi. I tried your suggestion but it doesn't work on my 2012 doosan dnm400 with fanuc I series control. See attached pic.
    Any clues?

Did you try putting -128 for the 4th axis in parameter 1023?

Yes just type -128 (that is with a minus sign)

I changed it to minus128, power off, disconnected, power on, alarm fssb etc. Changed then 1023 back to 4 power off, on, and... It worked. Shows 4 axis, but I can use the machine without 4th attached.
    Success.
    Thanks

Re: Removing 4th Axis from Table, Fanuc 0i

I can not edit parameter 1023. When I attempt to change my 4th or 5th axis value, it says write protect. I have attempted using the "off" softkey, pressing input softkey and hardkey, no difference. It keeps saying wire protect.

My machine is in e-stop, mdi, write parameter enabled. Fanuc 16i-M on a 2001 Robodrill. I am able to enable editing of O9000 programs, as well as all other parameters that I have tried, but 1023 is protected.

I think that there were some settings put in by the previous owner, but I have no idea what they could be. Previous owner can't be contacted.

Any suggestions to look for? I am about to just cut a hole through the side door to take unit out of enclosure but stay connected.

    Thanks

    Seelesturm,
Change parameter 12.7 and 1005.7 for the 4th and 5th.
There may be a "Dummy Connector" hanging near the 4th, 5th electrical connections. If there are, plug them in after disconnecting the cables.
    Cycle power.
