    Question Definitions of 2, 2 1/2, or 3 axis

A question I probably should already know the answer to, but can't find it in my brain. Are Hurco knee mills considered 2, 2 1/2, or 3 axis machines? Where might I find a good definition of these terms?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    2 axis = only x and y are cnc
2.5 axis = only two axis are used simultaneously the third, normally the z, is only positioning, so basically go down in z the make move in x and y i the same time
3 axis = well i guess you got it, the three axis can move at the same time
