New to Forum's mach 3 toolpath help

    Hello

I am new to the forum and to cnc. I have been trying out several different programs and I am going to be using mach 3 for my router. I downloaded cambam and can generate a tool path and run it in mach 3. The first few times when I ran it in mach 3 it followed the toolpath very closely on the screen but now it makes very sweeping turns in the corners and along any sharp curve except where it makes a z move and it goes all the way to the corner, looks like it follows the straight lines ok. Could I have changed something in mach 3 to do this. I have not changed the g codes at all and have used cam bam to regenerate the tool path but mach 3 does the same. Any sugestions?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

It may be the CV setting. Constant velocity or Exact stop.
For me, Exact stop is too slow and jerky. CV is a better setting. I have to slow the feedrate on tight arcs and corners, but it follows pretty nicely otherwise.

    Hi Neal,

As Leeway says, it does sound a lot like a CV issue.

Constant velocity is greatly affected by your acceleration settings. Try increasing your acceleration in motor tuning in Mach3 and see if this helps at all.

    Good luck!

I think I have it fixed. Some how in all my excitement over the weekend of playing with cambam and mach 3, I some how got the feed rate in cambam set to a very high number, backed it off to 30 to 50 and it works much better.

    Thanks, Neal
