    5 axis servos

Servo controls were missing when I bought a gantry cnc. The Govt. called it a "part manuipulator". I gave $250.00 it has some rust on the screws, but will deal with it later. Can someone help me with finding controls to male the thing work? It has Aerotech brush servo motors with encorder built on top of it. Can a person do this without breaking the bank? Thanks Marty

The Aerotech motors info can be obtained off their site, they were usually fitted with 1k pulses/rev encoders.
There are many makes and models of drives that can be used with these motors.
The method of control, step/dir or analogue will depend on the system you decide on.
If you want a cheap way to go with control, you should check out Mach and EMC forums here.

You might want to look at this eBay auction:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Camsoft-CNC-cont...1%7C240%3A1318

Camsoft is a much more capable control than Mach/EMC. Higher price and bit more complex to install.

Karl, Thanks for the information. I dont have a lot of knowledge in the cnc area. I looked at the e-bay item. It looks like somthing I can use. I dont see myself using 5 axis. I know for sure 3axis for sure maybe 4. I think I will call the guy on e-bay and see how much other parts will cost.

Installing Camsoft is not a project for beginners.

The parts you need are all there except the servo dirves. You'll have to get back on Camsoft maintenance for support. that won't be cheap.
