    Need help please!!

    Hi,

One of my customers recently aquired a very used Mitsubishi MH-50E machining centre, but it had to be transported some 1500 km, so the electrical cabinet was removed to reduce the width on the truck.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the servos and scales were disconnected, and now the machine has a Z70 abs alarm active. Unfortunately, not all the manuals are with the machine, and I have tried with no luck to find info to rectify this on the net.

The machine has a Meldas 500 control (M520, iirc), but the only info I can find refers to a menu option (ABS-SRV) which does not appear on this machine. Does anybody know how to turn this on, and/or have instructions for resetting the zero (home) position for this machine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    regards, Oz

    Hi,
Unfortunately it does not help as it redirects to mitsubishi.co.jp, which does not have downloads as far as I can tell. But thanks for your response.

I have heard from others for some reason that link only works in N America?
Maybe a Manual could be forwarded if you don't have.

After Z70 ABS there should be an error number and a axis name.
All the error numbers refer to Absolute position reference error.
    (perform zero point initialization).
I did this a while ago I will see if I can dig up my notes.

    From the meau website
    Hope this helps

Subject: Setting the home position points on dogless type machines for all
    axes.
NOTE: This procedure may not work on every machine out there. It’s
worked for me so far on OKK and MHI machining centers. Be aware.
    1) Make sure axes and/or rotary table are about 8-10 inches away from
where the approximate original home positions were.
Perform the following for each axis being set.
    2) Goto base spec parameters and change #11 abson to a 0.
    (this resets the zero point)
    3) Power off/on.
    4) Goto base spec parameters and change #11 abson back to a 2.
    5) Power off/on.
    6) Goto Absolute Position screen (in base spec param) and highlight
#0 ABS position. Set as follows: #(0) ---> input.
ABS position should now be highlighted or yellow.
    7) Confirm that parameter #5 No Stopper for the axis being set, is set to
a one. If it is not set to a one, set it.
    8) Now slowly (handle must be in X10) handle the axis to its previously
    marked home position.
Note: The machine may have metal markers designating the original
home positions, if not, you are on your own in figuring out where the
    home position should be.
    9) On the absolute position screen, change parameter #1 set, as follows:
    #(1) Axis< ? > Data(1) ---> input.
    10) Now move the axis back away from the home position until set-fin (at
the top of the absolute pos. page) changes to an *.
Note: If set-fin doesn’t change to an *, you did something wrong.
Repeat the procedure again from step 1.
    11) Note the value of E-G at the top of the screen of the axis you just set.
Replace the value of parameter #2 Base with the value of E-G.
    12) Power off/on.
    13) Zero return the axis that you just set. Have the operator check the
axis with an indicator to make sure that it has returned to its proper
    position.

    Hi,

Thanks for the help, I will give these methods a try as soon as I can. I have also managed to download a lot of the info from the MEAU site thanks to Al's info on not being in the U.S. Free proxy sites work well

Thanks again for your help guys...much appreciated.

Al,the link does work worldwide but you need to change the security settings in IE or you get redirected to the Melfans page.To change it go into control panel, internet options.Click the security tab and then custom settings.Scroll down until you see scripting and click disable active scripting the Meau site will then load next time you try it.After downloading reset to allow active scripting.

    Hi Mazaholic

Subject: Setting the home position points on dogless type machines for all axes.

Thank you for posting this procedure. I have a question:
Do I need to unlock some parameter lock/edit bit or a password on M520AM before changing parameters?
