Hello My father just picked up a Bridgeport vmc 3020 with a GE Fanuc series 21i-m controller. I know with alot of controllers you can hook a PC to them for uploading your new program cycles.

Does anyone with experience with this controller know I would connect a pc to it ? I know there is a parallel port on the front as well as a pcmcia card slot but it seems like it would be in the way to connect through these.

The parallel port is probably a serial port. Research serial connections on this web site. It has been hashed through dozens for times.

thanks for the input on that i found a couple things. Is there any specific software anyone here would recommend on using to control from PC to the fanuc control? My brother recommended "predator" software but I am having a bit of trouble finding it.

I see you can use windows built in hyperterminal also but I think I may have a hard time explaining some of that to my dad and uncle for use by them.
