Unhappy Cannot get my motors to turn

I'm using the Campbell Combo board with Viper 200 drivers.
Everything so far seems to work fine, but I can't get the motor to turn.
The DRO numbers move, but not the motors.
E-stop circuit is fine, as well as the limit switches.
I'm stumped and any help would be appreciated.

Make sure jog is turned on or the arrows won't work. Use the tab key to find the on/off jog button, and choose the correct jog mode.

When you had the DRO changing, the motors didn't move then?

Make sure the port settings are correct, and also make sure the cable is good. Standard printer cables usually won't work. All the wires need to go straight through.

    Gerry;
Thanks for the reply. I edited my last post because I got the arrows to work.
The motors still won't turn though.
I'm not quite sure what you mean about a standard printer cable not working??
I'm using a 2 ft long printer cable to a DP 25 pin gender changer, then to a short cable that was supplied by the breakout board manufacturer.
I don't think that's where my problem is because the E-stop and limits work fine.
For some reason the drives are not receiving a step/dir signal.

It sounds like maybe your computer signals from mach are not reaching the drives. Can you print from that PPort? Is the PPort activated in the computer bios? Check that your parallel port address is set correctly in mach, and that the D25 cable is a "straight thru: type.

Many "printer" cables are not CNC ready, and use cross connections. Using an ohmeter, read each pin of the DB25 cable end to end. They ALL should read straight thru.

Gender changers have also been known to introduce problems. You can get a guaranteed Straight thru male to male cable here:

Did you ever get it to work? I'm having the exact same issue, with the exact same setup. It will blink the step lights on the optional board but won't blink the BOB step lights or drive the motors.

Take a look at those first 4 videos if you did not already. It explain how it works and how to make it works really good.

I found that powering down the campbell board did the trick. Seems like every once in awhile it does that and re-setting the BOB always seems to fix it but I'm off to watch the videos and thanks so much for the reply! Wayne
