    g42 trouble

    hey guys,

    i just started learning cnc programming and i'm having trouble using the g42. i tried programming the g42 in the beginning of the program and cancelling it on a depart move at the end, but my parts weren't coming out right. i also tried calling it and canceling it whenever i needed it for a radius, but that didn't work either.

    Does the G42 work when you are doing a radius on a G1 (ex: g1 z-3. r.03)? Thats what i've been trying and i'm thinking maybe it only works with a g3?

    Thanks for the help,

    Manoj

    How do you do a radius on a G1?? What control are you using?

    i have a haas machine... the radius i put in after the g1 lets me do a corner rounding.. so if i'm going from the z axis to the x-axis i can put a radius in between really easily... same for chamfering...

    On a lathe when you use Tool Nose Radius compensation you also have to specify the Tool Tip Orientation by entering a Tip Code. Your manual describes this or you will find it on page 68 of this pdf file from the Haas website;

    actually geof,

    i looked through the manual you put up and it seems a little more detailed than the one i was using. i'll give it another shot tomorrow. i'll let you know what happens.

    thanks,

    Attach a file with a complete program and I will run it through my Simulator and TL2 and see if I can find what is not working (tomorrow).
