    DIY flatbed printer ?

I would like to build a machine to print designs on sheets of foam. the foam will be 3,6, or 9mm thick and be a sheet size of 27x39. I have several deskjet style printers laying around for parts. has anyone here tried this? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

here is a link that is similar to what I want to make.

Well there is a similar build for a T-shirt printer. Including plans.... http://www.t-shirtforums.com/diy-dtg/t48651.html

blackbeard, thanks for the link, it appears that they are keeping the same printing area for the t's. I am in need of something to print a 27"X39" sheet of foam.

weldtutor, I have seen that link before. that machine cuts foam but does not print on it. I cannot see a way to convert it to printing without re-designing it.

Thanks for the help guys, keep it coming! Once I figure out what I am doing I will do a build thread if there is any interest.

I would think you could buy a wide format plotter and add a movable table (with alteration) using the DIYDTG methods. The carriage mechanism is the only hurdle.
