    LNC-8C (Cadet lathe) turret index

    Howdy,

Have a 1996 LNC-8, Cadet lathe, is presenting a turret index error code 121.

Never had an issue previously on this machine. Wondering what type of sensors, and location of them, that may cause this error.

Maybe be unrelated to the error, but did recently switch coolant from Castrol Clearedge to Cimstar 540. The Cimstar seems to create sticky film when it drys.

    Thanks....Dan

with out an alarm code book handy i will assume from you post this is a turret alarm. if memory serves me this turret is hydraulic and has switches monitoring cams in the back of the turret. with ago and countless indexes those switches will wear and give problems. best bet replace them all. then check in check data to verify they match the table in the electrical drawings.

    Thanks for the reply.

I did drag out the manuals and have a look. The limit switches are indeed on the tailstock side of the turret, 7 pcs. Yamatake/Honeywell SL1-A for the index, and 1 pc. Yamatake/Honeywell SL1-D for the turret clamp.

I find the Yamatake switches for $45/ea, the Microswitch/Honeywell for $85/ea.

    Opinion?

try to stay with the originals in case you have to have okuma or one of there distributors work on it, otherwise they will question them, and considering they lasted 12 years.

    The switches are dual branded.

They have Microswitch, Yamatake and Honeywell printed on them. I do believe this Cadet was built in Charlotte, has many items sourced from USA companies.

But I can find Yamatake or Honeywell branded limit switches, not dual branded.
