I am converting a RF31 mill to cnc capabilities and need some help wiring home and limit switches to a CNC4PC C10 breakout board.

I am really only starting with limit switches on both the x and y axis and want them to work as both limit and home switches. I have seen the option of using a limit as home. I will be controlling this with turbocnc.

How do I wire this to the board? I have pins 10,11,12,13 and 15 all available on the BOB. what ones should I use? Should i wire in series or parralel?

I would greatly appreciate some guidance here.

I'm not sure if TurboCNC allows you to use a single switch as both a home and a limit switch. I haven't played with it in a very long time, though.

Any reason why OR'd N.O. switches used instead of the more common N.C. switches in series for E-stop?

Turbocnc WILL work with "Home as Limit".
In my case, I use NC switches for all axis. One pin to each axis. X=10, Y=12, and Z=13.
Now for the important thing. DO NOT SET UP LIMIT SWITCHES! Set Home is limit under the General Configuration screen.. by placing an X in the [ ]. I personally have set the home rate to 20 ipm but this was done after testing of my particular switches to see what worked best.

NOW, to keep your hair and I say this based on experience. Set up ONLY one axis at a time and get it working properly before you go to the next one. If you don't, I can almost guarantee you will be back saying it won't work! Been there done that.

Ok, you set it up lets say the X axis first. place the table in the middle of the travel and issue the home command G28 and the X axis should start moving in the proper direction. Using your finger, trip and HOLD the limit/home switch for the X axis and the table should stop and start moving in the other direction. If it doesn't, something is wrong. When you release the switch, the table should stop and the dro indicate the setting you programed into the ini file.

Don't forget that anytime you make a change to the ini file, you have to reset the prots before the change will take place.

I will give some of this a try. I am not making th connections to the machine yet, Just wiring the box. Doing it in the warmth and confort of my home office instead of out in the 14 degree shop today.
