Need Z axis ballscrew drive for Bridgeport

    Hi there,

I am in need of a Z axis drive for my Bridgeport clone. The Elrod is a bit expensive for me. There was a company selling a ballscrew system to drive the table but I can't find it anymore. Anybody have any idea about a bit less expensive quill drive or a source of a ballscrew/table drive? Not much time right now to fabricate anything. Any help would be MOST appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Chuck

THe elrod system is/was psrt of the Bridgeprot kit. You can buy the screw but you'll have to buld the kit.

What's your time worth besides, if you have the machine half way apaprt and find out the you have to make something, you're going back and forth taking apart and rebuidlign the machine.

IF you want "prints" go to USPTO.gov and look under assignees for Elrod.

I have a used Quill drive available. It was modified by the PO to work on his clone vs. what the original manufacturer built (some non-anodized cut marks). It comes complete with servo and I think the encoder. I never used it as my Series II has a driven table which is good enough for me.

E-mail me if you are interested and I will mail you pics tonight.
