    Lynx 220 "Z" G54 question

When trying to set G54 with measure (Z) Zero by pushing measure then z zero enter. I get a locked error of some type, almost like I have to push something else also, G55, G56, etc. will work but not G54. Any help, new to this machine.

I am not certain, but you may be getting a "write protect" alarm. Make sure you have the particular work offset active that you are trying to set. You can tell what work coordinate is active by looking in the upper left hand corner of the Work Coordinate page. You must call it up in MDI prior to setting the work face, or you will get the Write Protect alarm. Normally the procedure that I use is such:

    1. Have the Work Coordinate page called up
    2. cursor to the Z axis of whichever coordinate you are trying to set.
    3. press the "Tool Measure" button on the face of the control for 2 seconds.
    4. type the Z0 on the alphanumeric keypad.
    5. press the "measure" soft key below the CRT.

your work offset have to be active for you to set that particular coordinate
    eg.
    MDI
G54 eob enter and that will activate G54 and allow you to set your offset
If you can ENVISION it I can make it

Thats the exact problem "write protect" I thought that G54 was read as default or Modal and not needed to be called up, I have been putting (using) G56 in programs but new to this particular machine and could not figure out G54 problem. I was also NOT pressing tool measure, just cursing and (cursering) down to G54 then typing Z0 and pressing measure soft key and would then get write protect alarm.
I will try those things on Monday when I go back, thanks

What control are you using? These comments are for our Daewoo lathes with 18T controls. No idea about mills.

    1) G54 is the default workshift when the machine is turned on regardless of what workshift was active on shutdown.
    2) You do not have to be in MDI to set the workshift.
    3) When the write protect key is on I get the "write protect" error if setting a workshift.
    4) G54 does not have to be active to set a worksift in G54. HOWEVER it will NOT be a good workshift. Just stating that it does not alarm in this situation.

Unfortunately I can't help you with your error message. Never have seen it.

On my 0iT control, touch tool off, offset page, type: Z0.0 then press the measure button.
