You can wire the E-stop switch to a pin on the BOB and assign it as the E-stop in Mach. No relays needed.

You can use a solid state relay for the router. It can be controlled directly from the BOB.

If you use the E-stop in the software, it will use the motors as electric brakes to stop the machine. If you kill the power, the machine will want to coast to a stop.

You can wire this relay to provide power to router when steppers are powered:

Estop will unpower steppers and allow relay to open, shutting down router.

    pause / resume after estop

so with estop relay, at no point do you ever want to break power to you bob.... just power to motors ie gecko drivers and router/ spindle

Never had any hands experance yet with mach but after resuming from a estop can u continue cutting? with out lost steps? if not is there a way to pause... and resume?

Just to clarify, the stepper drivers produce a high "step" current followed by a lower "hold" current. This lower "hold" current holds the motor to prevent the axis from moving when it shouldn't.

Now, when you hit the pause or stop in Mach, it allows the line of g-code in progress to complete before the machine stops. If you hit the E-stop switch connected to Mach, it will immediately stop sending the "step" pulses to the driver. The "hold" current will continue, working as a brake.

If you use a switch or relay to kill the power to the drivers, the motors will coast to a stop.

Either method can be used, it's up to you which to use.
