    Outputting programs from Fanuc MV-40B

    Hi There,

I'm new to this forum. I have an old Mori Seiki CNC machine with an old Fanuc MV-40B controller. The manual is from 1984.

The controller has a serial port, and the manual discusses how to output ("punch") programs to a cassette. I don't have a cassette drive. I'd like to output programs to a computer through the serial port.

Any tips at all on how to do this? Do I need some software on the PC to accept the data?

    Thanks,

    Jake

MV-40B is the machine model #. Your control is probably a 6M or 10M or maybe a 0M. You'll have to find out which one it is, as the communication parameters are different. It should communicate via the RS-232 (DB-25) port. You'll need some software on your PC, and a serial port (NOT a printer port), and a cable between the 2. Find out which control it is and get back to us.
