Hi,
I have a Homag Venture CNC machine that runs the Weeke software from its console. I have all the standard programing sorted out and use it day to day as part of my company. However :-) I want to do more with it and was wondering if it was possible to make it do some of the 3d style carvings I have seen on this site? I have never played with it before and dont have a clue how I would even start to go about it. I know that I can load DFX files into it via Correl but this is all simple stuff.

Any help or a shove in the right direction would be fantastic. I think im going to need some other software installed to be able to do more.. if it is at all possible....

I have been using a homag machine for years though not a venture.
If you have woodwop software you should be able to find an application called 'woodtype'. Great for engraving/carving infinite fonts etc, just type and watch it go!!
maybe no help but at least you know we're not ignoring you!!

hi, Thanks for the reponse :-) Yes I do havge access to woodtype. However I have always just used Correl to Create my words then converted them into woodwop.

Really what I want to do is to be able to router out shapes like a simple ball/dome. I want to build up to being able to do a sideways profile of a horse... but no actually make a model rather than just the outline.. if you get what i mean... I am sure there should be a easy way of doing it.. but i just dont know how Im sure 50k worth of machine should be able to do what a 2k one from ebay can :-)

Am I right in thinking a venture is 4 axis XYZC?
You may have some difficulty doing what you're after without a fifth axis
but I would see it as a challenge!
If I can do this on an xyzc I'm sure you can do what you're asking!

Hi, Sorry I cant see the image :-(

I believe XYZC means left right, forward backwards, up down and then also in the side? if so then yes i can do that :-) im just totally not sure how to go about it.. and im hoping that your image will show me something amazing and then i can find out how you did it and then go from there :-)

Hi, I am a factory trained Homag/Weeke technican, you have lots of options with your machine but for the carving you will be limited to bas releif machining which simply means the machine moves in an X or Y path with the Z axis following the surface of your model, there is various software to generate this type of toolpath you just need a post for your machine. drop me a message and I can give you some ideas what you need
