Body into new part within assembly

    Hi Guys,
im making a cube within sw each side of the cube is a new part. (top down assembly) ive made cut through one of the panels creating a new body of the part.

I want to be able to turn that body into a new part within my assembly without having to offset surfaces then knitting it back together is there a way to do this.

i have just phoned the helpline and the couldn't help, it sounds like a really simple action i just cant work it out.

ive attached a picture so you can see what i mean.

I think the Split feature is what you are looking for.

I'm not sure I follow your description but, if your top part has been split into two parts you can open it at the part level, export the part into a new part then delete it in the original part file and insert the new part file back into your assembly?

Thanks for your reply, i had thought of this but i didn't want to have to re position the parts after bringing them back into the assembly.
