    X2 belt drive conversion

I've just received a belt drive kit from LMS for my X2 mill.
Clear instructions but I've come to a grinding halt trying to remove the black sleeve under the spindle nut.
I can't remove it, it's just too tight.
How tight should this be? The instructions don't mention any special tools being required.
How can I remove it? I don't have any gear/bearing pullers.

    Tumutbound,

The spanner nut is a left hand thread.

I got the spanner nut off ok, it's the black sleeve that will not come loose.

A large set of channel locks or a muffler clamp attached around the black ring and a few taps up with a rubber mallet should do it.

There is a key and a keyway so trying to spin it wont work.

You may need to fabricate a collar type puller like this, if the other method does not work.

The top of the collar would need bolts threaded through it, tightening the bolts would pull the sleeve off.

    Jeff,

thanks for the suggestions. I'll try out the channel locks - tomorrow, it's late here.

Well the pliers did the trick. It just needed a lot more force than I was using.

Now all i need is 3/32" hex key to tighten the motor pulley (I'm a completely metric shop )

    Geoff,

Drill and tap for a metric set screw.
