i think it is better then previous,but the rails worried me.They are on one side.Can this make trouble

Hi there,

the load on one side of die Y doesn´t matter.
Take a look at other router-buildings, it´s the same.

Make the plates down at the rails of X more broadly, gets better stability.

The only thing I can think of is to change the front end to metal instead of wood. I'm assuming the rest of the machine is metal.

i have finally finished designing my second router. its almost similar to the sketch i have posted before. Gentry is little different though.... it has table size of 1350mm X 3000 mm
structure made up of square n rectangle pipes. Weighing approx. 500 kgs.

On the long side how many motors you use? 2 or 1.I really like this build but someone tell me that i must use 2 motors on long side because the motion is on one side of the axis

i used only one motor for this design but used two racks, synchronising two motors for one axis cud be pain, especially for someone like me who is low in electronics, so i found mechanical solution.

hey for your designs u can use one motor n one rack/screw, but u have to mount the rack/screw in centre of the gentry. i have built such a router with ball screw in centre. it is a heavy duty industrial router. check it out

i feel from your sketch that your gentry is very light in weight, in that case screw at one side should work. your design is somewhat similar to mine. there is no moving part under the table. i built a smaller machine with ball screw at one side. it worked fine. but it was very small machine 200x300mm. i m not sure for the same result on bigger tables

i suggest u use one screw at either end n try running the machine. keep provision for fitting another screw if needed in future. as for my design its just on paper right now. i have finished designing it on CAD. so no pics yet. i m gonna use two rack( one on each side) for long axis as mine has heavy gentry. i have already posted pic of my previous design.
