Just spent 10 hours in the truck going to my sons place. He is ripping off his old deck and replacing it. Pics next week when I get back.
I used to be appalled, now I'm just amused.

Just finished a job which is certainly not one of my preferred non-CNC activities; painting my house. Fortunately my brother volunteered to do it for me, all I had to do was build and remove scaffolding.

Now we are both going to embark on my favorite non-CNC activity; fly to Anchorage, coach to Seward, board the MS Ryndam and spend six days sailing down to Vancouver.

I will be in-touch, there are wireless hotspots all over the ship and I have a nifty little notebook computer.

Don't you mean $45 per hour.

I figure W.T.H. I am spending a lot of money to enjoy myself, why not spend a bit more.

P.S. remember my brother saved me more than $45 per hour painting the house; for a lot more hours than I will spend on line on board.

I'm a woodturner as my main hobby. I also do computerized embroidery, computerized quilting (yes, i'm on a theme here). I am a computer programmer by day, and I love ripping up the curves and outrunning crotch rockets thru curves with my Goldwing.

I got into the CNC machining world because of my design to get into another aspect of woodturning called Ornamental Turing. This requires a special machine called a Rose engine. I've attached a photo of the machine I designed and built with my Syil SX3. If you want to read more on it, you can visit my website at www.mandalaroseworks.com.

Here are a few pics of some of my woodturnings as well.

I'll break radio silence here to admonish Geof. You are on vacation, man $45/hr for internet?
When I'm on vacation I only allow myself to use the computer to download the camera. Do you do the Alaska thing often?
We ride on Norwegian. I like their feeding schedules better but to be honest I haven't tried Holland America. You will have to tell us about the ride when you get back.
I'm sitting here now doing my favorite activity - recovering from another back surgery.
I'm not officially on vacation so I'm allowed to use the internet for short periods.
Wade nice unit. Do you make those fancy geometric goodies too or just the machine to make them?
I used to be appalled, now I'm just amused.

None of the photos are made on the rose engine. I have to post a few of the pics I have of items that were made on the engine. Those items were just done on a regular wood lathe.

I make everything on that photo of the rose engine including the pattern discs in the middle of the machine.

    Kimfab;

What is wrong with amusing myself on here even when I am on vacation? It is not quite so bad because I get the package as ger mentions.

I'm addicted, I can't forgo my regular CNCzone fix.

I guess I can understand your need for a fix. You will have to give us a full report when you return. How was your visit with Sarah Palin?

I'm back from my son's place - feeling better. Currently stripping out an 86 Ford van. Anybody need some parts? This one was pretty fancy with a wheelchair lift in it.
I tried to give the lift away but nobody wanted it. I'll use the motors for something tho.

She resigned rather than meet me.

Can you believe temperatures in the 80's and not a cloud in the sky?? Sea otters by the hundred enjoying themselves floating around on their back, chomping on clams and sea urchins. I could learn to enjoy this live but unfortunately have to get back to reality in another two days.

I tried uploading pictures but it was a failure.

This sometimes happens on my home computer, I will try from my office machine next time I am up there.

    Thanks.

Yes I do build workstation class PC's. That gaming PC is as close as you can get to workstation class PC. Not to much difference.
