Even better. A list of people who want 3d luthieryndesign that will actually pay for the service.

Yep, once one has many hours creating a use-able CAD model, the model has value.
I have noticed lots of free 2D plans available, and then to 3D zero------
3D modeling with curves and surfaces is a true skill

That's a nice model bostosh. Did you use rhino? If you want to hone your modeling skills definitely check this guy out.

That's what she said. Here's my latest original design. It's a simple mov file so it can easily be reverse engineered if you wish.

AMG, I like those instructional videos !
I am going thru them for hints.
And the "Better Living thru CNC" theme is Right on !
Most people go blank when CNC is mentioned. Nothing gets done today without CNC.
Because of N/C we went to the moon and all things derived from that effort.

For surfacing i use Fastsurf which is embedded into Cadkey 19. ( don't laugh now, it's 1999 winXP)
This was developed way before Rhino, used to create lofted aircraft surfaces.
Creates machinable surfaces before solid models. or Acad PC's etc.
And B-splines/surfaces nurbs, etc new stuff i don't use
I wouldn't think of "Reverse Engineering": yours, i am finding original stuff that needs to be modeled and built. Plenty of idea men with sketches, fewer 3D modelers to model for Gcode generation.

Just read the "Help, can someone design a (Bennadetto, Fender, Gibson, Mandolin F model etc etc etc) Guitar in 3D and send it to me and send it to me so I can make one" around forums.

I just found this video while looking for something else.I sometimes get the impression that half the world likes the idea of making their own guitar.Somebody has produced an add on workbench for Freecad that does a lot of the work. You may still have to learn how to program a 3D surface.

"but but but I want the 3d files with all the toolpaths and set up sheets and all the instructions how to assemble them so I can make them because I am too lazy to learn that myself or even learn the basics of luthiery. And after you send me your years of hard work I won't even send you a thank you ..."

I understand the sentiment. In a different section of the zone I found a real novice with huge ambition and not much of a clue and pointed out a few obstacles in his plan. Not well received and he still pops up asking basic stuff. The other telltale sign is a a newbie with a screen name that makes it appear he is an established and experienced CNC user and who then asks about machining metal with a cheapo 3018 from an online retailer. Then there are those who insist that they can do something that is considered unwise and then rail against the advice to reconsider. It can get very wearing. The alternative is we keep doing our own thing and select those who appear to deserve our help. There is lots to be learned from youtube, and lots that can be ignored too.We all started somewhere.

    for little pay

Do they have any money to pay to accelerate experience?

My experience can be free to the humble true seeker of" the "knowledge"

Do the pseudo-seekers of free 3-D think Cartesian is cheese or a dance move?
