I don't mean this as an advertisement, but thought I'd point out that Autodesk has released the AutoCAD/Inventor LT 2010 suite. My understanding is that this includes both the 2D acad LT and the basic Invenotor (3d and 2d) packages alowing you to do 3D stuff for Parts and then make drawings out of them. seems like a good dal for any one who's doing 3D parts. Inventor is much easier for 3D in my opinion.

Should be great for CNC stuff. you can't do assmblies, sheet metal unfloding, ect like you can the full Inventor.

lol, i clicked the links and kinds scratched my head trying to figure out the pricing also. I assume there is an incentive to upgrade an ACAD LT to the ACAD-INV LT suite????

I think they did offer it for free the last two releases, with the warning that they would charge for it at some point. I think I read that the free versions expired/timed out on a certain date, but I might be remembering wrong.

Since it includes ACAD LT, I would think anybody using ACAD LT could go this route and get Inventor for almost the same price.

I guess it depends where a person is coming from. If you already have ACAD LT and can get this for less than a new seat of ACAD LT, then I guess that's a deal??? Still money out of pocket, though.

But if a guy is looking at a parametric modeler and just needs to do parts and drawings, then I guess this is a bargain compared to full Inventor or one of the others????
