    Ladder Modification

    Giorgis,
On older Fanuc 0's, the ladder will need to be modified to allow this. It is a simple change, but takes special equipment (A PC-Mate yellow box or laptop running the correct version of Fanuc's Fladder program, and an E-Prom writing accessory. Also, the mode switch will need modification to allow the "Tape" mode to be switched on.

Georgis, if you can see the ladder (PARAM several times), try to find G127.5. If present, look at the circuit before the WRITE 127.5 - if there is some keep relay there - address beginning with D, you win. If not... read eproms or call someone.

Am I missing something in this ladder display? I don’t see any Adress or pinout in the ladder. I’m trying to do the same as threadstarter. Sorry for necroing a old thread but it was about the same thing.

edit: it was not showing due to lack of brightness. Adjusted the pot on the display and it’s all good. I don’t have a G127.5 tho so I’m fckd

Depends on the version of the 0 you have.
Usually an external toggle switch has to be implemented and G127.5 energized in the ladder.

But G127.5 isn’t in the ladder. Is it so that I have to energize it for it to show? I thought it would show up when not connected also? In the attachment you can see what shows up when I search for G127.5. I also looked through the whole ladder manually without finding anything.

There is a “tapef” setting in the parameter screen but I can’t change it no matter what I do. The pwe can be changed.

The ladder most likely has to be modified to register a G127.5.

I tried looking into editing this but it looks like you need some old Fanuc software running in dos and a special cable. I guess it’s impossible to do DIY? Kinda annoying setback :/ have to consider retrofitting a modern controll system since using memory won’t cover much work..

One option is to either enable more program memory or add a memory card.
Check what parameter 901 is and report back.

Is the G127.5 part the only thing that can trigger drip feed mode? Like it is now I can send files up to 60kB to the machine through serial and run them but this is very time consuming doing faces. Splitting A 30MB file is going to be mission impossible

AFAIK a external switch has to be fitted and the rung for G127.5 has to be enabled.
You could confirm it with Dan Fritz here.

Ok . Is a PMC Edit Cassette A02B-0098-C199 the only way of doing so? They are crazy expensive second hand for such a old unit..

You should be able to see the status of the various (boolean) functions in the rung, i.e. high lighted, or not, to see what needs to be turned on.

Re: Help for PMC ladder for Fanuc O-M

I programmed in that line you see there with G127.5 so I know what needs enabling If I did it correctly it's basically mode switch to auto and X8.0 input to high to enable DNC. I don't have a EPROM eraser so right now I'm trying to erase it with LED lamps :P It will prolly need many days to clear the chip before I can test my code in the machine (it's not loaded yet). I'll order a eprom eraser for next time so I don't have to wait this long to test.
