FeatureCAM Expands Product Offering with Machine Simulation

National Design Engineering Show - Booth 2417
and WESTEC 2004 - Booth 3574

Salt Lake City, UT - January 21, 2005 - Engineering Geometry Systems, developer of FeatureCAM products, will demonstrate the addition of their new Machine Simulation at the National Design Engineering Show (Booth 2417) and WESTEC (Booth 3574). The National Design Engineering Show, part of National Manufacturing Week, is in Chicago, Illinois from March 7 to March 10. WESTEC is in Los Angeles, California from April 4 to April 7.

Machine Simulation allows users to view machine movements and detect any possible collisions, giving them the assurance of a clean operation without having to stop production for dry runs. With FeatureCAM, if a collision is detected, the simulation pauses and a dialog box appears with information on the specific components involved. Simulations can illustrate machines anywhere from basic 2-axis mills to complex 5-axis tilting head machines. Users can also incorporate additional options, such as having the tool changer shown in the simulation during tool changes.

FeatureCAM's Machine Simulation embraces the same ease of use that is signature of all FeatureCAM products. Customers define their own machine with solid models, using either FeatureCAM's Solid Modeling option or solid model data imported from other CAD program.s The machine design is then saved for use with any part program. Numerous machine components can be included, such as turrets, heads, spindles, tool shanks, tool changers, rotary tables, axis slides, clamps, and fixtures.

"In production manufacturing, you need options that help you decrease cycle time. With Machine Simulation, FeatureCAM can better serve the needs of our production shop customers by helping them decrease cycle time, with confidence that machines will not crash on the shop floor," says Tom McCollough, Vice President of Software Development at Engineering Geometry Systems.
