    Converting a .max file

Anyone know of a program that offers a demo version that can convert a .max file? .max is a 3ds format, right? I'd like to convert it to something that can be opened in Rhino.

3DS MAX files can't be converted, due to the way MAX handles it's objects. You can, however, export .3ds and other formats from MAX, which then could be coverted.
What about GMAX? I've never used it, so couldn't tell you if it would work.

It could also be a Paperport file format. We used this software for scanning documents and it has a *.max file extention. I'll look at the software tonight to see if it has any conversion ability. How many files do you need to convert?

Well, gmax won't bring it in. (chair)

Wayne, there is the 1 .max file, then 3 .tga files and 1 .jpg. I'm assuming this is actually a 'scene'. But of course can't find out without getting it open.

That would be cool. Only downfall is that the compressed file (.rar format) is almost 4mb.
