    HOW TO SET X AND Y AS TOP VIEW

    Hello ,everybody I have a question: how to set my planes so that when I select top view on the standard views tool bar i get x and y plane ,so far
    the x and y plane only shows on the front view.than k you very much any help is greatly appreciated.

    Are you using an older version?
    I think you simply open the part template file, rename the top to anything, rename the front view to top and then rename the old top to front.

    If you do a search in this forum, I think it's there somewhere too.


    In 2009, this is the default.

    There is no way to directly change the world coordinate system as you would like. I put in a ticket with SW on this. They never could tell me why they made their software without Z normal to the top view. They gave me a convoluted export procedure using coordinate system under reference geometry.

    I never knew you could just rename the standard planes. I would just rotate the parts in Mastercam or use the Surface-Move/Copy commands in SW.

    Hit the space bar... a box pops up... One of the boxes (can't remember what it's called) allows you to change the current view to the one you want. You can also create custom views in this tool.
