Anyone know a good source for inductive proximity sensors like the ones used in Mach 2?. Thanks, John

what size were you looking for? Omron makes them, actually there are tons of manufacteur's out there, have you tried ebay?
I might have a few I could sell depending on your needs/size ect...

I'm not sure which type would be best. I was thinking about using the barrel style,( 4 or 5 mm). My machine is very simular to the shopbot.

I get a lot of other sensor stuff from www.automationdirect.com I know they have a selection of proximity sensors. I have been ordering sensors from them for the past 3+ years.

Can I get 0.2 mm sensing distance with any of the proximity sensors?

Sensing range is dependent on diameter and wether or not shielded type, with the shielded type the metal barrel goes right up to the face, otherwise there is a plastic end which allows slightly more detection range.

I have been using the square green units for the past year with great success.

They are connected to a Soundlogic breakout board.

    Wired,

These can have different types of outputs and supply requirements. I've seen them with TTL compatible outputs, open-collector, etc. What are you wanting to tie them to? I guess maybe a better way to ask is what do the inputs your going to hook these to need/expect?
