    engraving on swiss type machine

Looking for some info about roller imprinting or any solution to engrave few characters around the surface (OD 7.8mm) using swiss type machine. Does someone do anything like that?? Cycle time is critical, whole part is done in 45s so engraving operation cannot take too much time. Thank You for any tip or vendor adress/website.

    Hi there

Engraving option as you say is probaly too slow for your requirement. We use roll markers from German company Hommel & Keller here in the UK - Just plunge on and rotate C axis by required amount.

US Distributor according to website is

We use Sossner Roll Stamps. I usually use the C axis so I can orientate the stamp to other features on the part. Doesn't take more than a couple of seconds.

That's the one I used too! Thank you, I couldn't think of the maker.

The Star SR20's that I used it on were 1st generation though, and didn't have C-axis spindles. I was able to use the Sossner roll stamps at slow (200rpm) spindle speeds though. No problem putting a company name and logo around 270 degrees of a .300" diameter. It took a little effort/time to get it setup, but ran well.

I had also found this company for the O.P.:

    Hi Guys,
This is my first post, so bear with me.
Do you guys know if there is a roll stamp that will stamp not on the circular, but on the longitudinal. I have a Tsugami B26, and I would like to roll stamp vs using a hydraulic stamp. Just stop and lock the spindle and lower your X and feed Z to get the "roll stamp" to stamp the material. I would be stamping hex stock so it would be a flat surface that I would be stamping.
Let me know if anyone has heard of such a set up, or I'm dreaming.

    Thank You

    Congo

Check with Sossner. They've got everything when it comes to roll stamping.
