Can't get steppers to move with G540

I'm running Mach3 in order to drive my G540 and can't seem to get my steppers to spin. I've tried this on two machines, each running the configuration from geckodrive.com.

    Machine 1:
In BIOS, parallel port set to EPP+ECP mode
Charge pump not pulling the drive out of fault
Scoped the parallel port, pin 2 (X axis step) seems to be stuck high while jogging
Seems to be activity on other pins... can't remember which
Pulling the plug on the drive causes mach3 to fault... so it seems to see the interface

    Machine 2:
In BIOS, parallel port set to EPP mode
Charge pump has no problem pulling the drive out of fault
Something keeps activating mach3's e-stop request... it won't come out of reset

I did some bench testing of the drive... and the motors spin when I just tickle the step pin with a function generator, so this would seem to be a problem on the computer side. I've also tried bi-directional mode on machine 1 and it doesn't make any difference.

    Question

    Sp1nm0nkey,

Is pin 10 connected to Pin 12?

Did you copy the G540b.xml file to the Mach3 directory?

Are you loading the 540B profile when you start Mach3?

    Jeff...

    Yes, yes, and yes.

The controller would never come out of fault if I didn't short 10 to 12, and it only doesn't when the the charge pump is enabled and it doesn't get the signal.

    Question

Are you sure you have a straight through cable, its easy for a vendor to give you a null or lap link data transfer cable by mistake.
