Align face to horizontal using probe - DMU50

    Hi guys,

We have a 3+2 axis DMU-50 with Heidenheim i530 controller.

I have a job that is an engine block with the intake ports at around 63 degree angle. I was wondering, can i roughly align the intake port top face to be horizontal then probe 3 points and the machine can align the axis automatically to be horizontal and then i can just run a 3 axis program i've made to enlarge the ports.

Otherwise i will have to clock the block manually and it will take much longer.

I know that if we probe a square block on the sides the machine will compensate for the block being off square and align it square automatically so thought this is a similar thing.

    thanks

    Dave

Depending on which software version you have there should already be a TP cycle for aligning to a plane.e
If not you can write your own using Q values.
