    VACCUM HOLD DOWN PUMP

I have been using a shop vac as a vaccum pump for some time now and the noise is getting to me and my wife. Are there any other reasonable ways of making vaccum for my router table other than buying an expensive pump? I have to get away from the shop vac idea!

Do you happen to have an old compressor lying around? You can probably convert this into a very nice vaccuum pump.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

Harbor freight has new vaccum pumps for about $90.00. On ebay and many pawn shops have used pumps for sale from about $50. to $150.
    Thanks

    Vaccum pump

The pumps I have been around were not super loud. A lot less than a shop vac.
I have seen these pumps hooked up to a 5 gal air tank ,the type you get to air up tires as a reserve air tank. This makes it where you are not just drawing from the pump. This helps the volume load I think.
The otherthing should be watched is the duty cycle of the pumps motor.
I have seen shops have two pumps, run one while the other cools with the aid of a fan.
The resever air supply helps during the transition from one pump to the next.

I have read that luithers use the venturi type. I think a gauge inline would help keep an eye on the vaccum created.
