Motor Linearity on PK299-F4.5 (from OM) and KL34H295-43-8B (from Kelling) ??

    Hi,

I'm trying to understand the motor linearity and what it does to the performace of a stepper motor. Does it has to do with the internal mechanical dimensions of a determined motor?

I need couple of motors with 800-900 oz/in of holding torque and so far here are the options I have come up with:

    - PK299-F4.5a from Oriental Motors (8 lead). I have seen many threads mentioning this motor and it's impressive performance.

    - KL34H295-43-8B (8 lead) from Keling, these are chinese motors, but, apparently have impressed some important people (Mariss from Geckodrives) with it's performance.

Any thoughts or comparisons very appreciated

Gave a STFW to myself and here it is....

STFW means: Search the fu#!%! web !!

I found nice stuff about motor linearity, it's really worth the reading. It is an important characteristic of a motor when running it at very low speeds!
It explains why big stepper motors resonate loudly at low speeds.

Could anybody help with the 2 motors mentioned before and it's linearity characteristics?

    Thanks,
    Francis
