Hi there,

I have one problem with Mastercam and maybe any member can help.

Creating Toolpath for a simple Pocket I always get this alert:

"Tool Plane Must be set to Top or Off in Entry"

Can anybody help me to resolve ?

Generally speaking, when creating a toolpath operation, your WCS and T/C-planes should be the same for a 3-axis machine, unless you have an additional right angled head attachment or multi-axis machine.

This should be set before starting the operation, if missed, it can also be altered in the operation parameters under "Planes" before passing on to have the toolpaths generated. If you don't set the planes ( according to the machine config ) it will give the error and bomb you out and not keep the operation

The WCS is how you have the part set in the machine
T-plane is how the machine will move/rotate that part to execute those paths
ie.
WCS=TOP, T-plane=RIGHT cannot work on a machine that has a 4th axis around X-axis (A) as this machine can only get to TOP, FRONT, BACK and BOTTOM

WCS=TOP, T-plane=TOP cannot correctly work on a machine that has a 4th axis around Y-axis (B) as this machine can only get to FRONT, RIGHT, LEFT and BACK ( it sort of works if only TOP is the only view worked on )

Vertical and Horizomtal are programmed differently
verticals----WCS=TOP, T-plane=TOP is the uppermost face presented to the spindle, this allows tha A outputs to be correct
Horiz- ---WCS=TOP, T-plane=FRONT is the face presented to the spindle, this allows the B outputs to be correct
